Audemars Piguet celebrates the new Audemars Piguet Art Commission and inaugural guest curator Marc-Olivier Wahler at Art Basel, Basel, 2014.
On Wednesday, 18 June 2014, the Swiss watchmaking brand Audemars Piguet celebrated the launch of the Audemars Piguet Art Commission at an exclusive dinner, which coincided with the opening of Art Basel, Basel 2014. The Audemars Piguet Art Commission is an innovative project that supports artists in the creation of works of exceptional complexity. In this framework, Audemars Piguet provides the selected artists with the necessary resources, and secures access to advanced tools, industry specific expertise or sophisticated technologies to enable them to achieve significant new creative projects. Figurehead of the art world, Marc-Olivier Wahler is the first guest curator for their new commissioning project. The event was also attended by Mathieu Lehanneur who designed Audemars Piguet’s new lounge concept for their space in the Collectors’ Lounge at Art Basel. The dinner was attended by 100 people, including collectors, artists, gallerists and curators from around the world, who enjoyed the dishes from the “best restaurant in the world” El Celler de Can Roca – known for creating unique epicurean experiences for guests wishing to explore the boundaries between art and food.
